Is this the correct blower motor for my '73 with a/c ? I almost ordered it earlier but, have seen conflicting information. I have enclosed a link, for those of you who read this thread. Thank you. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/pa...Z91sgz?itemIdentifier=913988_0_6648_2398,5281
Hey Charles, Think I got mine ('72 w/AC) from RockAuto and it fit. They have several listed including a closeout Cardone 4144 for $12.28. Jim
There is a difference in factory ac and dealer installed ac. They had both, I would just make sure which one you have.
I Googled the blower motor earlier and found it at several different places, in different name brands. The Four Seasons part # 35573, is the one that one website says fit. The Four Seasons 35573 looked just like the one on the AutoZone website. I haven't removed mine yet and I don't know exactly what it looks like. I saw the F.S. 35573 elsewhere and they said, it was not a match for my car. I looked at the blower motors on several run-of-the-mill sites, so I don't remember where I saw them.
You might take it out, then hook it up and see what the problem is. Sounds like a bearing is going out, but maybe you will get lucky and it is something else.
Charles, I posted in another thread how a gas receipt went down the defrost opening and was hitting the fan. Made a noise that could be mistaken for a bad bearing. Easy enough to pull the motor out and see what's up.
If you find that there is no foreign material in the motor, I prolonged my blower motors life by lubing the bushing with a needle lube attachment and light weight oil. If you prefer to replace it, the one pictured appears to be the correct one as there are three studs protruding from the motor side and the round mounting face. The non AC cars have a comma shaped mounting base. (at least in 72)
I went ahead and ordered the Cardone blower motor. If this one works, I'll know which way to go from now on. Thanks for the replies, guys.:Handshake
