What year Mavericks or Comets had clear/white front turn signals?

Hi guys. As the title says.

Can I just find the lenses and swap them out.. or do I need to replace the whole light assembly.

Also... did they ever make similar front fender signals to match?

Reason I ask is that I'd rather have to use orange coated bulbs under a clear lense than have orange tinted signals with clear bulbs and was wondering what and how to swap them to clear/white. Thanks

Just buy the lenses, you can get them new from most Mustang suppliers (70 Mustang). They will work in any grill up till 1974.
I did the same thing to my 73.

The ones in the grill are easy to replace. (Not that the others are not)
Daves are actually clear whereas mine have small squares..

Sorry to be so green with all the newbie questions but I'm already having visions of many small details and I've only had the car for 3 days now. lol

dunno.. depends on where they are located below, I guess. I'll peek around to see if I can figure out the year runs for differing config's. Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure that I would like the clears as much as the small squared style that you're talking about.

IMO, the clears look like driving light type lenses.. and the small whitish etched with small square diffusers look more like turn signals.

Have to look a bit more and figure what I'm after there.

Is it possible to mod those signal housings to accept a smaller halogen bulb for driving light duty? Albiet.. how ever weak'ish they may be, I'm still a sucker for added light saturation for night driving. Eye's aren't what they used to be and I would be sooo upset if I hit a damned deer with this ride, lol. And then.. use the under the bumber style as the turns?

Thanks for your time here guys. :)

Nice.. thanks and that's very much what I was getting at above!

So, if the lowers are now your fog lights?.. then the very same trick should be feasible to do on the upper grill signals?

Are the sockets/bulbs for both lights the same?

And if that is feasible to run those 2057 bulbs in the uppers?.. can I get clear lower signal lenses?

Basically what I'm after is the reverse of what you've done. You familiar enough with both lights to think it's possible?

Well.. I know with enough ingenuity, time,.. and cash.. just about anything is possible.. but I think you get where I'm coming from. Easy bolt on mods with a bit of low dollar custom work to maximize light and make it pop at night, right?

Or what about an after market mustang driving light that fits in that stock footprint in the grill? They even make anything like that for the stangs?

Sorry for the barrage of questions all at once there.. but you got me thinking' too hard. ;)

The correct answer to your question is 1970.

Only 1970 used Clear Turn Signal lenses with Amber Bulbs.

The cars (like 71/72 Grabbers or 72 LDO) that had Sport lights in the Grill also had clear lenses but the directionals below the bumpers were Amber.

Ford moved the Directional to the Grill in 1973 .. and from then on they were Amber plastic lenses.

even easier is to just drink a few too many beers before looking at it.

Course.. if you're leaning the wrong way?.. it'll look even worse!

And then to top it off.. you just might try to fix it at that very moment and end up making it worse when you inspect your inebriated work quality on later inspection. lol

NM.. after more thought on the matter.. probably not the best idea to drink before you do your mechanic'in. :D

You have a 71, right? So your turn signals are below the bumper. Above the bumper are sport lamps. The sport lamps have clear smooth plastic lenses. (I am not sure if the bulb is supposed to be clear or amber in sport lamps, maybe someone can let us know) In 1973, this became the position for the turn signal. Some texture was added to the lens and I believe there were clear and amber versions, but I don't know where each was used. The lens below the bumper was used as a directional from 1970 to 1972. 1970 being the only year it was made in clear. I've tried both on my car. Ultimately, I decided I preferred the amber lens. To each there own I guess. Here is a link to the poll I posted: LENS POLL

So you said turn signal, is that the lens you meant or are you referring to the sport lamp?
