Does anyone know if there are reproduction Mustang door latches that are compatable with the ones on a Maverick?

Here is the part numbers of the door latches I used on my 72.

    LH C9AZ-6221813A
    RH C9AZ-6221812A

They were a perfect fit and of good quality. I believe they are for a mustang the is the same part used on the maverick.

So, the "A" in C9AZ, usually means it's a generic part, used on a number of cars.
I always thought people knew they were the same...

What year Mustang would these latches be ordered for? I found that CJ Pony Parts sells latches so I'm sure all of the other Mustang parts houses have them but they use their own part numbers.

Also what about Mustang striker plates? What year Mustang would be a direct fit for those?

    Thanks, Bob

    "C9 ..." should mean 1969. First character is decade ... C= 1960s, D= 1970s, etc ...

The second character is generally the first year a part was put into use in any Ford car ... and usually remains the same until a revision comes along.

Thanks for the info - I didn't realize that Autokrafters was using those Ford part numbers - are the matching striker plates, that will fit a Maverick, also from a 69-70 Mustang?

Funny this should pop up today. Cobra Automotive is a customer of mine. I was there helping them match a color today and I asked if they had any used parts for mock up purposes. They do keep parts around just for that reason. So I grabbed a door striker, latch and outside door handle for a 65-66 Mustang. I just checked them against my Maverick and they are exact to what I have.

I was surprised, very good news for us.

With regard to the door handles ... some folks here have been saying the 67-68 Mustang piece is "the right one", but that something with the internal works is a bit different. Don't know much more than that ... maybe a part swap internally helps.

I just scored the best Mav door handles I have ever seen .... whoo-hoo ... just in time too. Working on my drivers door.

I put the Mustang door handles on both of my cars, however, I found the repros did a poor job with the push button. It was too small and felt loose in there (poor reverse engineering, lol). Someone on this forum (might have been Dan Starnes, not sure now) told me that you could use the button from the old factory door handles, and that is what I did. They fit very nicely, but you have to make some small adjustments to the connecting rod after you do this (it's been a while, but I think I had to adjust the rod to be a tad bit longer inside the door).

The inner lever on some repops is different, but swaps easily from the Maverick handle, also the button on some repops is crappy, all depends on what brand you buy.
