I found a '84 LTD with new brakes and wondering if it would swap onto my '71 Maverick. I'm sorry if this is the wrong section, this is my first true post.
C'mon guys.. I'm going to the junk yard Saturday to grab them.. If someone can tell me if they work or not would save me a lot of hassle..
I doubt it, or we would be able to give you an answer. We pretty much know what swaps work with Mavericks.
call autozone and ask if the rotor for a 74 maverick or comet are the same part number as the ltd if they are then theyll fit otherwise definitely get a return policy cause it may not work
stick to granadas and marquis they fit even pintos if you can find a five lug disc brake pinto look at older mustangs newer 80's maybe even 90's tbirds look like theyll work.
What I'm stumped at is the spindle and grease seal, and all of that are identical. The rotor might be a bit size bigger, but it should work shouldn't it?
I dont think that would work. Would move the caliper to the front. The ball joint positions may be different. the tie rod length and angle will be different. I would just look for Granada or maverick stuff and do it right.
Salvage yard should have access to the hollander interchange numbers. That will tell you for sure. Or if the parts are cheap enough give it a shot and report back.
None of that stuff is going to work. Especially the Pinto stuff...no matter if it is 4-lug or 5-lug. Pinto is a totally different suspensionand steering system.
