The crossmember came on 6 cyl cars also. Matter of fact the 1st V8 Falcons didn't have the #2 crossmember but the 6 cyl Falcons did. But the 1st V8 Falcons had a torque box and the 6 cyl didn't
Aren't we talking about Mavericks/Comets? I have never seen a 6 cyl Maverick with an engine crossmember from the factory (though they all had the holes/threaded inserts).
Actually we're talking about a bolt from a Mustang that fits a Maverick. Both Mustang and Maverick belly bar's have one bolt on each end. the early Falcon had 3 bolts on each end. Which one sounds like an engineer designed? Which one sounds like the bean counters got ahold of. You wouldn't want to build a house with only one nail on each end of a 2x4...so why use a crossmember with only one bolt at each end? Here is a pic of the early Falcon crossmember.
Can someone confirm that these are the same size as ours? I found the link from a local mustang parts supplier, here in houston, but never put my hands on them to verify that they are the same size as our cars'. I would hate for a bunch of guys to order them to find they are not the right size.
Thanks for looking this up, everytime I thought about looking it up I forgot. They must be a fairly new item because a couple years ago nobody reproduced them. I actually made my own.
It uses the bolts that hold the frame mounts to the inter shock tower. This is the only pics I got handy...maybe you can see how it mounts. This is an aftermarket belly bar for an early Falcon with a V8
