Steve, I have a 75 Mav with 5 lug wheels. What kind of set up can you get me to put discs on the rear?
I have a 1970 maverick with 4 lug wheels. What is the process I need to follow to get this done. I found a 94 town car that has a complete rear end. Can I just get it and swap it for the stock one I have? Thanks in advance
Reader's Digest story is...... No! Minimum you need is an 8" rear end housing with 5 lug axles. Sorry! Steve
Cool! that give me a good pointer, now the nexe question is, What car can I pull these axles from that will bolt in? or as I mentioned in the prsvious post, Can I just bolt in/adapt the whole rear end from a 94 town car? I believe it is and 8.8 though
I believe that youse Maverick guys are pretty much limited to Comet and Mav housings! Perhaps 65-66 Mustangs too. I would not even consider putting the Crown Vic rear in place.... Tape measure from wheel mounting surface to wheel mount surface (side to side) on your car and then the C'Vic. That would tell you why not! Unless you are planning to run some crazy wheel flares...... Steve
Hey Steve I have a 1972 Lincoln Mark IV my question is which space kit would work best? #9602SA maybe? how do I purchase it? Im using the 96-02 Crown Vic set up thanks Wil
Will, I suspect your Lincoln Mark IV is a large bearing housing. Check the bolt pattern of the backing plate before you buy any more parts and compare to the pattern on your 96-02 backing plates. I could be wrong. If you find that the patters are different, I would just look for a rear end from a 73 or similar Lincoln that already has discs! If that doesn't work, then try the Explorer backing plates, as they are large bearing style, but the mounting holes will need a little work to match up! Don't you have the 5 on 5" wheel pattern too???? Something bugs me about the Lincolns.....being their own animal of sorts.... STeve
the wheels i have now came off of a 1967 ford galaxie 500 i believe those are 5x4.5.. to make sure i went to rockauto which confirms 5x4.5 http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=3436170&cc=1188187 http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1279106&cc=1188187
