looking into buying a granada ghia donor car (disc brakes and 9 inch rear end) with a 302 and a c4. my question is... will the c4 from the 77 work with my new 302 from a 91 mustang if i switch the bellhousing... meaning will the flexplate and torque converter work. supposedly the torque converter is relatively new as the transmission was "rebuilt" not too long ago.

i am assuming that the rear end and front discs will work and bolt right up with a few "minor" modifications if necessary. i.e. bearings or joints. if i am mistaken in this please let me know. thanks!

    btw i have a 71' maverick

also would i be able to use the driveline out of the ghia or is that not necessary?

Easiest way to use the trans is get a 157 tooth, 50oz imballance flexplate, the orig will be 28oz and wont match the 5.0...

Make sure that's a 9 ich rear before you pull it out. Most had 8 inch rears, the nines were optional in Granadas.

If I remember right, it has been awhile, someone like Summit can tell you when you order, this is an aftermarket flexplate that Ford never made, a 157 tooth with 50 oz. imbalance for the mid 83 and up 5.0, I think(but you should verify) that the torque converter bolt pattern would fit your torque converter. The later trannies were not C-4 and not 157 tooth and the bolt pattern was a little different.

If the rear is still stock and has disc brakes it should be a 9 inch :thumbs2:

I used a 77 Granada C4 in my car, but it was a pan fill trans which has the big bellhousing. The torque converter bolted right up to the 85 model T bird 302 I had which was a 50 oz imbalance.

What I always refer to as "my Lincoln Versailles rear" actually came out of a Granada Ghia. Some Mercury Monarchs had them also - I bought my rear after it was already taken out of the Granada. I've looked under many a Granada/Monarch in junkyards over the years and have never seen another :)

If you have a 69.5 then you have non-staggered shocks correct? Because I'm getting ready to install my Lincoln 9" rear. What shock plate did you use to mount it? Thanks! :D

Yes, my car came with the non-staggered shocks. When I originally put my 9 inch in with the leaf springs, I used the original shock plates from the little rear that came stock in my car. I only had to get the bigger u-bolts and oblong the holes in the plates for them to work. Everything back there is now 4 link with coil over shocks so all of that stuff is gone now :)

That sounds super easy! :D thank you for the help! It also sounds like you have a pretty sweet setup back there now :thumbs2:
