I've got a delay setup but the post that the knob goes on is too short. I'm not sure what to do to make this work. I found a post from a few years ago by 76MavStallion (below) that alludes to a solution but it's a bit beyond me. Does anybody have any suggestions?

"For the one I put into my 76 I had to extend the shaft for the knob, I think this needs to be done for later model cars that have the lighted bezel around the switch, I am not sure if it needs to be done for earlier cars that do not have the lighted bezel. I will extend the shaft before shipping if requested by the buyer to make it the same length as my non delay switch that I removed from my car."

I think that would work in a pinch, but there's no gap for the washer to function. :(

The washer function works fine for me using the HELP section knob

I have the same problem. I haven't tried a different knob yet. I'm not sure how, but when I had my 75 maverick I put in a delay wiper setup and the shaft fit perfectly. I think the delay setup was out of another maverick possibly.

I just replaced my switch about a week or 2 ago with a switch from a bronco and had the same problem what I did was figured out how long the old one was verses the new one and welded apiece from the old switch shaft on with a 110volt wire feed welder turned way down. then cleaned up the welds. just paid close attention to keep it straight to reach all the way through. picture is bad but you may get the idea. oh if this is a up grade the box fits on the back side of the plate

Thx for the options guys. I think I'm gonna go with the autozone/help section knob. Cheers!

I like what Bigdan did, if keeping the factory knob is important to you. :burnout:

Here's what I came up with.

I liked Bigdan56's idea, but I'm no welder, so I took a bit of brass tube and a roll pin and it came out nicely. The tolerances are so close that it works fine with no slippage, but I'm going to smear some JB Weld on it just to be safe. I could spend a bit more time and try to get the factory knob to fit, but I just want to get the dash back together at this point.

    Cheers guys.

I've got to work up to that. Right now, I can only seem to melt things. :burnout:

I used a switch from a 71 Mustang. It was the correct length.

Mine is a 75. I used both the switch and box/relay from a 71 Mustang.
