Hey guys, just did the install this thursday/saturday of the 6901 headers onto my 302 Comet Gt,then added some flowtech purple hornie header mufflers to finish off the exhaust and was putting up this thread as a "im stoked about this' and as a "anyone wanting fitment questions answered" kinda thread,so if anyone wants pictures or video, maybe a few questions answered go ahead and fire away, ill check back tomorrow around 3ish california time. P.S. They sound Bi***in'
I remember driving around in a parking garage my 61 Falcon with purple hornies straight off the headers and no tail pipes car alarms going off everywhere.
may i ask you how low they hang where the transmission crossmember is?? i had mine testfitted and they hang alot too low, are your higher than mine? thanks for your info, and maybe somo fotos!
yes, 100% sure. thats why i asked, i heard of many that they hang ok, others say low. when we discussed it a while ago we came to the point that maybe the engine mounts are not correct. the shop where they installed everything they say the mounts are correct, but i dont trust them anymore. i will check that first when i get the car back... from there i will see what i will do.
The custom trans crossmember you have appears to hang an inch and a half lower than stock. That would angle the headers lower towards the rear and require a different pinion angle.
thats what i thought too! they said because of the t5 swap it was not possible to make it higher for clearce problems to the transmission tunnel. i cant really believe it and will check the angle, engine mounts and possibility to bring all up. the pinion angle of the rear end is still not welded, so i can adjust the engine/trans first and with that get the optimum angle of the axle... anyone did a 4speed to t5 swap and had to put it lower? TROJAN: sorry for hijacking your thread!! :sorry:
lookin at the underneath today it seems like the mufflers and headers hug right into the nook in the transmission crossmember, mine dont hang nearly as low as yours, mine is a 302/c4 though, will post an all around video soon,we have been having some heavy winds lately and i havent been able to get a good video.
from looking at your pics i would say your header hang down over 2" than what is normal. i had the t5 with the 6901s on my car and have installed them on 3 other mavericks with t5s. they will have the bottom tubes below the sub frames but thats all. to get the t5 in a maverick at the right angle you need to notch the trans tunnel support to clear the top of the tail shaft housing. in you pics it looks like the motor is low also or those headers are longer than the 6901s
thanks, bruh,im really enjoying the way it sounds, losing the MPG gains of the swap cus i cant keep my foot outta it
