I'm not sure if this has been discussed before (which means it probably has, I just couldn't find it), but I was going through some parts today and noticed a difference between my original blue dash pad and a green (unknown year) dash pad that I bought a while back. Has anyone had a problem with this when swapping dash pads? My car is in pieces, so I cannot see what part (the kick panel maybe?) interferes in this area.

I never saw a difference before - I know the plastic dash cap makers only list one for all Maverick/Comets but that doesn't mean that there wasn't a difference :hmmm:

I have 6 in the garage, none of them have that notch. My original 73 one doesn't

Yeah, I'm on the same page as you.

Really? That's interesting. The notch was on both sides, and uniform, so to me it did not look like it was from an incorrect installation, or like something was stuck in there for a long time... but I could of course be wrong.

I will need to investigate more then next time I am in the shop.

I was wrong, they all have that notch. I just went and looked, I'm a little high from paint fumes...

    :biglaugh:

So... now the question is, what does "no notch" mean?

Good to know! So maybe it is a '70 or '76, '77 thing?

I love that we are chasing down a 1/2" by 1" notch on a part of the dash pad that you can't even see.

My pad is stashed away so I can't double check it right now but I am 100% sure that my 69.5 does not have it either :yup:

Do 70's have the plastic fillers beside the dash?
