Hey guys hows it going, I'm new to the forum and new to the comet scene. I just got a garage kept 1974 Mercury Comet and I have plans on putting a 302 in it and rebuilding the trans as well. The car's been sitting for years in the garage so I'm pretty sure the motor is probably seized but like I said I'm putting a V8 in it but first thing is first I want to remove that ugly bumper LOL has anyone done that conversion from a earlier 70s Maverick or comet, please help me with some information on that ugly yet heavy battery Ram bumper lol thank you guys and I appreciate your time

Welcome from Portland OR. The 74 Comet I have is my first, and it came with small a small bumper and and valence in the interior. I thought "This will look good with those small bumpers; all I have to do is bolt them on!" :biglaugh: And then I tried to bolt it on, and so it began. This is the right place to be if you want to get it done though. Mine also came with an incomplete v-8 swap, which is almost done. Someday I will drive it and be happy!!
