Hi everyone! I'm new to owning an older car like this. My most recent purchase is the 1972 Maverick in my picture. It's a 200ci I6 that runs terribly, has holes in the roof from rust, and leaks fluids. It probably belongs in the parts bin, but I've always liked the look of Mavericks, and I think I could make it into a nice cruiser. I picked it up for cheap, so I figure I can learn on it and perhaps use that for the next one. I look forward to picking y'all's brains, since I've been using this site for the past week non-stop anyways.
If you think it may become a parts car don't be concerned with roof... Either smear a little bondo on it or go by the Dollar Store and get yourself a couple rain hats... Welcome...
from central VA! Or you could do like Don Comfort did and cut the roof off of it and make it a permanent convertible!
from Atlantic Canada! If the car is running bad, I'd look at rebuilding the carb and performing a tune-up with new points or a Pertronix ignition. The 200 is one of the easiest engines to work on.
