I picked up a 1975 Ford Maverick rear end at Charlotte auto fare.It is 51 1/4 from end to end at the axle tube.I pulled the axles out the long side is 27 1/4 the short side is 23 1/4.Is this right I have looked on here and they all say 25 1/4 on the short side. Thanks Todd

The Maverick saw a lot of different length axles through it's production run. The Master Parts Catalog says:
    The '70 7-1/4" 4-lug came with 29-7/16" & 25-15/16".
    The '70-'72 8" 4-lug came with 29-1/2" & 25-9/16".
    '71-'73 8" 5-lug came with 29-5/8" & 25-25-9/16".
    '74-'77 8" came with 29-39/64" & 25-35/64"

discard the rear axle and put one of the 5.0 mustang 95-98, only adapts the same springs
