Is it worth trying to fix it on the cheap? It's a nice car, crack open your wallet, and get it fixed right.

Looks like I am going to have to glue it myself. Everyone says the entire top needs to be replaced, and one guy said he could reglue it for $175 but no warranty and said it will most likely only hold for a couple months.

Any suggestions on what glue to use?

I think I might etch the glass beforehand so it will hold onto the glue better.

    Update!

Through the local mustang forum in Houston, I was given a couple more numbers. First, like all the others, said replace the top, $1300.

The second guy...:thumbs2: you KNOW when you get an honest guy, right?

He said that yes, the entire top needs to be replaced. BUT, i could use urethane windshield adhesive and prop the top up a foot or so to relieve the pressure on the glass and vinyl, glue a heavy bead along the cleaned separated area, and tape it down, and walk away for 24 hours. He said this could hold up for 2 months, or 2 years, no way to tell, but keep fingers crossed.

Furthermore, he said that when/if I want to replace the top, DO NOT go to the shop and purchase the top, but instead go to the local mustang parts house (John's Mustangs, in my case) and get the top for much cheaper, and then pay the shop to install it.

So, I found 3M urethane windshield adhesive in the caulk tube for $18. I may have to kick the A/C on in the garage for a few hours to cool it down, and glue that thing up in the next day or so.

Just figured I would let you know what the options are for those of us who have convertibles.

scoop, i agree that the top needs to be replaced. unfortunately the 05+ tops are one piece unlike the sn95 and new edge cars

I did the $17 urethane fix and so far it is holding up quite well. We shall see over the long haul...
