Hey im gonna swap a 87 n later mustang 5.0 and T-5 in my 71 Mav w the original 170 in it... what parts/tech tips will i want to know? ANY help is greatly appreciated! -Kyle 'NASTY71'
lots of info on here, just do a search for the t5 stuff... there are tech articles on the 5.0/302 swap. i ur "efi" ing it, its kinda a do it yourself type thing. any specfic questions your looking for?
well, if you've got a question, these people most likely got the answer it seems, and if it is humanly possible to be imagined, they seem to have already done it. i still feel like i just joined the board yesterday sometimes with all the new stuff i learn, so i have faith that some of the more seasoned engine type folks on here will be along shortly to help you out. or just search some of the keywords of whats involved in what you're swapping and "BAM" you got a smorgasbord of info right there most of the time. Good luck with the swap, (though i don't see what's wrong with a good ol' bulletproof ford six under the hood. id put one in my wagon if i thought it would pull it along fast enough.) just my opinion though. whatever makes you like the car is what you should do, so have fun with it!
I found this article on the Ford I6 engines, Hope you enjoy it!!!! http://mustangtimes.net/27-11/pg27-30.pdf
you will need a v8 belly bar, engine mounts, and double hump trans cross member.for the t5 there are a few ways to work out the clutch linkage,a search will show you your options, all of them take a little work.you also have to figure something out for a dipstick,i dont beleive there is enough room on the side of the engine for it.some timing covers have a spot on the passenger side you can drill and install one.there is more but since i am only about to do it,i am sure i will run into something else that needs to be done
thats a nice article. i didn't know they actually made dual exhausts for a six. it said the only prob would be it messin up a/c. Mine doesn't have that, so maybe...
I love the sound of an I6 with dual headers, I've seen many rat rods that use a inline 6 with triple carbs. I have never seen a maverick with that setup. I prefer a I6 over a 302 anytime.
seen a 300 in a maverick in nebraska 30 years back, I went and bought a maverick, anyways u will need to do some tunnel work for the t5 atleast thats where i am at rite now, front sump oil pan and pickup which also will make it so you can put the dipstick in front, not a bad bolt in but will need to prefit everything before you will get it to work, by the way 1980 mustand with four cyclinder uses a cable clutch release
