1973 Maverick Ldo

I decided to get two spray cans of Ford Pearl White, code 9C mixed by my local Lordco Auto store. I still had a few cans mixed by Express paints but while doing the wheel wells, the first can plugged so I suspect the paint was too old.

 

I dropped the valence in order to repair the rust visible where the valence and front fenders touch. There are 10 bolts, three at each fender, one at each fender brace, and two at the middle of the valence. I cleaned off the rust with a 3M wheel and a Makita 1/4 sheet linear sander loaded with 80 grit sandpaper. I then cleaned the bare metal with metal prep and applied Rust Bullet. The inside ends of the valance show the undercoating that was applied to the car when it was new.

 

Here’s how it looks now.

Now lose those ridiculous front bumper guards, get a Grabber rear spoiler, and put a set of nice wheels & tires on it...

I just plated the car from Jun 15 to Sept 15, just liability, for $145 CDN. I hope to hit a few car shows in the region including the Fifth Annual Motor Mountain Nationals Car Fest.

 

Here is the Mav parked next to another car club member’s car prior to cruising to the Underground Show N Shine in Kimberley BC. There were 60 cars at the show. Mine was the only Maverick and a ton of appreciative viewers commented on how rare Mavericks and Comets were.
