my laugh for the day. called the salvage yard looking for parts today. heres how the conversation went. hello, jims autosalvage. what can we do for you? yeah, i was wondering if you can look to see if you have some parts for my car. alright what do you have? its a 1989 dodge daytona shel(got stopped) uh no. no parts period? your waisting your breath. i laughed and thanked him for his time.
Are you serious? Wow I bet they dont get much business...lol...Most of the parts are interchangeable between daytonas, aries, reliants, sundances, and chargers, theres very few major differences. Most junkyards nowadays dont carry anything older then 10 years
hate to make this resurface but i trust the older generations here in comparison to the younger crowd on turbododge. i have a question and figure you could correct me. i need to brighten up my tail lights. correct me if im wrong but adding another ground closer to the socket should help yeah? *side note. is it just me or are the younger generations more cocky and less helpful on import/fwd styled forums?*
If it has a proper ground to begin with, then no it should not be brighter. You can try the old tip of painting the bucket white or chrome. As far as the younger generation, well i am a part of it. And i do work on FWD Honda's. It really depends on the forum, but yes its a bit of a glory(cocky) fest. But some of the young guys impress me, there are 17 years olds out there chipping and tunning their daily drivers to be most effective. Have you ever tried to tune an ECU its complicated as hell. Yet these guys somehow manage to pull it off. Building their own turbo kits from junkyard parts, but sadly that's like 5%. The rest are just mindless idiots.
i think thats what saddens me. i salute you as a hondatech. i work with a guy who put a jdm vtec in his 89 crx. vtec came out of the crx sir i believe he said. costly but still impressive. im lucky on import questions by having him around. but like you said the intelligent posts on an import website is 1 out of roughly ten responses. if things go right i want to use the 2.4 turbo world engine out of a neor srt4. cant really use him for help there. almost everyone in the shop is against dodge including me. just something special about this car that draws me. only other dodge guy in the shop is mentally handycapt so answers are few and far between. i tried taking justin's(hondatech) idea and going all out import. searched weights on the eclipses civics integras and accords. all weigh between 2800 and 3200lbs curb weight. the daytona is 3000lbs. im shaving weight where i can now. sucks about the lights. i guess sometimes you just have to leave well enough alone.
Have you tried jsut polishing the lenses on the tail lights? I know it made a difference on my mustang, some guy was doing them in the autozone parking lot for 20.00 bucks. He just had a spray bottle, 2000 grit wet sand paper, some polish, and a cordless drill with a buffing attachment. Took him about 15 minutes, and me about another 30 because there were people ahead of me LOL and more waited behind me. I bet that guy made 200 plus dollars that day sitting in that parking lot, wish I would thought of that. He was doing headlights or tail lights for 20, and both heads and tails for 30
