Are you talking about the 2.3 single over head cam motor that came in some of the courier trucks or have things change since 79 with my motor that i have?
I do know that the all cast iron motors 2.3 are good motors.
But the earlier aluminum castings had problems?
If you are using the motor that i have in my truck all cast.
And you can run times like that, Then i'll never blow up the motor in my truck
so i can start cutting shock towers, fire wall for the 302.

Cool car and even better the engineering

yes it is the cast iron 2.3 made from like 73-99 or something like that , i have put a water methanol injection kit on my car now so i intend to turn the boost up some more, i am going to run a seperate tank for race gas with a seperate pump to supply fuel for the nos kit. so i will be spraying race gas pump gas water and methanol all at once.

i have built a water/meth kit that i got on it today but i have to wait for my new boost gauge to get in so i can tell what i am doing. i bought one that goes to 35 instead of 25 i love outgrowing a boost gauge.

here are the parts i used to make the kit

    1.boost switch from coolingmist.com(15$)
    2.size 12 nozzle from the same (10$)
3.stock ford in tank elec fuel pump (free)
4.1/4 inch nylon line from lowes with correct fittings (6$)
5.5 gallon degreaser jug from my work (free)
6.a standard relay (free from work)

so i have like 30 dollars in it and i will let you know how it does, my goal is 32-36 psi on pump gas

Why spend a few thousand when you can spend a few hundred... I have had it all, turbo cars, blower cars and nitrous cars... all three have their uses. The most fun I have ever had was in my 2.3T swapped 92 Mustang LX. My 2000 Mustang GT had a NOS Nozzle kit on it and ran 8.60's on motor (1/8th mile) and in the upper 7's (on drag radials, i say 7's as it depended on if the tires broke loose or not ;))with a 75 shot. My first car was a 75 Camaro with a bored and stroked small block with a 671 bolted to the top... that one saw in the 9's (1/4 mile) before the motor let go and sent me into the wall at 160mph. Either way, there are power adders for every budget... and (not picking on anyone in particular here) anybody who thinks that nitrous is cjheapting then also needs to include any power adder in that mix..

you can do a nitrous setup for as little as like $400... but the drawback is that the fun only lasts as long as that $20 worth of gas does ;)

In any case, if you run the car enough on the gas, it doesn't take long to add up to the cost of a supercharger of turbo setup..

We're talking about this engine. This engine was optional in the Courier in 1979. The aluminum engines were totally different.

The only issue i ever had with buying and using nitrous is, if you buy a good kit with a few options and use it quite a bit you could get a supercharger or turbo setup and make as much or more power.
