Just caught this on you tube, 10 second maverick with a 300 (4.9) straight six.. Does anyone else know what it entails to do this, where to find this engine? Im looking for some more info on this..
Yep, the big green tractor video is real good. Go to the Turbo 4.9 Ford Maverick video and the frankin six. Those are awsome. They say you will need a lot of room for the mighty 300 six in a maverick.tiphat:
I am Trying to find out now, was hopeing the guys or Galls on the forum would know. Jump right in people! A 300 six pulling the front wheels off the ground is awsome.I got a little info out of hawkco ,on the forum , he is in rex Ga.
A 300 straight six that can be bolted in with little fabrication then back it with an AOD, that would be pretty if that actually works. Im still trying to find more info, maybe if we could get some info from mr. big green tractor (4.9 maverick) on you tube, that would be helpfull. Someone recruit that guy!
Apparently some of us have short memory spans...and others are new we were talking about this a couple months ago, we have a member on here who has one I think his name is the mad frenchman and he has done allot of work but here is the link that we were talking about this in http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=60482
Thank you, that link nailed it for me. Not to mention some other thoughts and questions I had. 300 is deff out the window, Im looking to do a cruiser with some power in my 72 four door. That sealed the deal on where I want to go with it, looking at a 250 L build with an AOD behind it now, locked in, time for some homework on it.
One thought comes to mind oh great knowledagable maverick people. Jay man has a point in the previous info, tuning, smoothness ,torque and longevity! Those 300 engines dont want to die. The carb ones usually get 300 thousand miles easy. The c6s are tuff too!
back in the day the head builders would take 3 boss 302 heads and morph ( 2 front cyl from donor a 2 rear cyl from donor b and 2 center cylinders from donor c ) it into a super head for a 300 six don't know if any of that info or talent is still around but i actually saw one and saw it run like hell in the early70's can't beat a straight 6 tourque
I also have a picture some where of the six cylinder 300, with cleveland heads, welded together. It was running at the commerce Ga. track in the late 70s . One cylinder cut off each head ,both heads welded end to end.
