A 255 V8 should be a direct bolt in......It basically has the same outer dimensions as the 302. Good luck with the swap!(y)

If you're talking about a 4.6 mod motor, the one with the overhead camshafts, no it won't fit without major surgery, like Mustang II suspension and losing the shock towers. It's simply too wide to fit between the shock towers. Now you could just stick it in and leave the top half of the motor sticking out of the hood like a Zingers car, but I don't think that is what you are asking :D

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
a couple of guys are doing it haven't seen a finished one yet, but i really like the mod motors now that i got a chance to work on one, plus the blocks are really strong and some of the stock heads flow really good, i say go for it, if you have the funds.

A 92 Crown Vic would have a Mod motor in it. Like was said above the shock towers would need to be removed. It may be possible with a RRS or AJE Racing kit as well.

No it will not just fall in......easiest route is to use a Rod and custom Mustang II frt end kit. Figure on 3k or more to make it swap...Then add the motor and trans etc....

not worth the trouble for a non P.I. sohc. NOW A dohc lincoln motor....maybe!
really though, for as big and heavy as a 4.6 sohc is you might as well usE a 351w and have the potential to make real hp that u can actually rely on w/o having to hack up your engine bay and/or suspension.
