I talked to a guy that has a couple Mavericks he might sell. They both have 5 lug wheels. He said the 74 had a 4 1/2 bolt pattern. And he said the 72 had a smaller pattern. Did Ford really have a smaller pattern for 5 lug wheels? That surprises me. Anybody seen anything like that ?

Definitely not in '71/'72 or earlier, all have same spacing. Ford did some asinine things, changing wheel bolt patterns wasn't one of them.

Not 100% sure about early Falcon V8(1963), I believe some of those had 13", five lug wheels. Time to drag out Hollanders interchange.

I think ‘74 is when the hub diameter changed. About a 1/4” larger

I think you are correct, went from 2.43" to larger 2.78" hub diameters........

Ok , so are you just talking about the center hub. The lugs are both still on 4 1/2"?

Yes about the center hub and as far as I know, all 5 bolt studs are on 4 1/2" circle.

I think the larger center hole was for the disc brake hub.
I found a parts car once that someone made a small hole rim fit the larger front disc hub, we had to take a sledge hammer to remove it...:smash:

I got a flat tire once on my way to Roundup. Found out the hard way my spare tire wheel didn't fit over my disc brake hub. :slap:

Here are a couple of shots from the Crager catalogue. A lot of their rims have a bore of 3.579 “Also their rims in this design have end caps so you can’t see how closely the hole size is matched up with the hub diameter.
