They should have drove the car into a metal container, weld it up and then bury it in the cement box. Any word on the condition of the items in the capsule?

As I recall watching it live, it appeared everything survived in the capsule.

The fat lady MC wouldn't let the little old man MC talk much about what was in there though.

I finally got around to watching the video and looking at all the pictures. ( Great pictures , Rando76 :thumbs2: ) That has to be the saddest looking car I have ever seen in my life. :( The only things that look salvagable might be the chrome and the rear windshield. The front bumper looked pretty good where they cleaned the gunk off of it. The bad part is now that the car has been exposed to the air, it's going to rust even more. So what exactly are the plans for the car now? Is someone going to try to restore it, stick it in a museum or turn it into a huge paperweight? As for Boyd, what was he doing there anyway? Besides promoting himself that is. Was he invited there or did he invite himself to the event? If it was mentioned in the video I missed it. I used to watch his show, but the guy was such a turn off that I eventually turned him off. If his ego gets any bigger his head might explode. Here's a thought. Lets strap him down in one of his hotrods and stick him in the same hole that Belvedere came out of and dig him back up in 50 years. All the hot air coming out of his head should keep the vault dry for years.

HA!! I see there are a lot of Boyd fans here.
As far as I know, they invited him here. We have some great restoration guys in Tulsa, I'm not sure why we didn't use them (since it is a Tulsa thing). I assume the reason is that they are not known nationwide. This was a big event for Tulsa - they are trying to use this to promote Tulsa.

I've been saying this for weeks! I agree, that's a great idea. They could paint it with a rust preventative. Then they could weld on loops on lower it into a concrete vault. Also, they could put french drains under and around the vault and tie them into the sewer system. Also, if they hadn't have buried it so deep, that would have helped too. Kind of like the car we buried in 1998. Here's the link to that. http://www.tulsaworld.com/webextra/...rticles.aspx?articleID=070616_1_A8_hOffi67475
The prowler isn't buried completely underground, but partially - it looks like a small hill.

The small steel time capsule came out perfect. Everything in it was immaculate. Unfortunately, they didn't display any of it at the car show on Saturday, with the exception of the flag. I'm not sure why. :hmmm:

    I found this...
They said they struck oil when digging the hole for the vault!
They also talked about all the high tech precautions being taken to make sure the car arrives in 07 "intact".
Not only did they cover the car in some special material, but they mention a special "goo" that was spread all over it to preserve it.
They also mention a "liner" for the vault, but don't go into detail about it.
