    stock...porp. valve
    stock...disc/drum m/c.

    parts...'96 Crown Vic....rotors...brackets and cali...(small bearing)

    ...'96 explorer...rubber brake lines (2 pass. side p# H380528)

E-brake...Crown Vic. inner cables inside the stock Mav/Comet outer housings.

    ... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=96019 ...

get the fittings from the donor hard lines (metric) the metric flare on the tubing can be done with a standard flaring tool.

    tool list...
    9/16" deepwell socket/or short ext.(removing axle plate)
    hand wrenches... 10 mm/Allen wrench (cali. bolts)...line wrenches...BFH
    flaring tool kit.
hacksaw/cut off wheel for trimming housing tube plate if needed.

a lift made it nice but jackstands will do fine...be safe...the trans. will be ...out of gear...(so you can turn axle to remove bolts).

pull the axle and remove everything from the housing flange.
trim the housing flange so the caliper bracket will seat to the flange. slide the axle in and reinstall the 4 bolts to hold the bracket and axle plate on.
install the rotor, caliper and wheel.
plum the metric fitting to your hard line and install the rubber hose to the caliper.

    on a 1-10 scale w/10 being hardest it is about a 3.

I remember you converting Exploder brackets to your 8 inch so I knew you already had disc brakes - did this Crown Vic set up just replace the Explorer set up :)

I didn't have to cut my housing tube plate/housing flange, it all just bolted on, don't have a clue why I didn't have to cut it but was happy not having too.

Does the flange-to-flange dimension change between the original drums and the new disc setup?

post #4...I had Explorer disc. on to start with. they are a perfect match for the 9". (big bearing).
    then went to...Linc. rear disc.
    now to Crown Vic.
as most know...I'm not afraid to change...:smash:
this setup was the easiest to install...I could get any of the replacement parts at any auto parts store (rubber brake lines, calipers, rotors and pads)...:thumbs2:
