Well my friend has an 86 landcruiser and he's hoping to do a v-8 swap soon and he said that if his engine would fit in my car I could have it so has anyone tried this?
It might fit, but your gonna need a lot of skills to make it work. And bottom line it wont be as cheap as a 302 swap. here's a 2JZ-GTE in a maverick.
I just found the "nail in the coffin" for a 2F engine swap in a maverick.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_F_engine
the thing is it's gonna be a FREE engine. I mean yes eventually I will do the 302 swap but probably not for another year or two. How hard will it be to get in my car?
even if its free the 302 swap will still be cheaper. Everything on that swap will have to be custom made. Frame mounts, tranny crossmember, driveshaft, etc... It's not worth it in my opinion, just sell the engine and get a 5.0.
$50-$150 seem to be the going price on those. Price it a bit higher to see of anyone bites. Someone out there needs one.
I heard that Toyota has based quite a few of their engines on Chevy designs and Nissan has based a few on Ford designs...
Haha I heard Nissan also went to Ford with the V8 for it's Armada and Titan as well.. Toyota has been said to have gotten help from GM with the 3UR in the Tundra as well.. But who knows.
