It’s been a long time since I've posted my progress on here so I would like to say after 5 long years of motor and body work my maverick finely breaths again, and with its new found power I was throwing around the idea of a posi rear end for it, what I’m looking for isn't some crazy high end posi rear end but something I can find at my local junk yard or downer car. I've been playing this game way to long to know that I’m not going to find something that I can just plug and play. But what I’m hoping to find is something close to that the brakes aren't an issue drums or disk make no diff to me any help would be awesome thanks Stephen M.

Got one of these in my truck, but costs way more than $35.

It isn't too big a deal to put one of these (or the mini-spool) into your current rearend without having to buy junk from a yard.

yeah it would be less invasive to just replace the gears then to mess around i don't know why i didn't think of that thanks

It will be difficult finding ANY posi from a junkyard in 8" Ford.

Once you pop the pumpkin out, it isn't too big a job to add a posi to your current gears. Swapping gears is a bit more work requiring tools that most guys don't have in their garage toolboxes.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
It's easier to find gold than it is to find a 8" trac lok.

they're THAT rare to find in a junkyard.

you can buy built third members with whatever you want from several companies. Those are the closests to plug and play, price range is about $800-$1,000.

The other option is to toss in a 8.8, but it requires fabrication and welding. Not to mention different wheels, so in the end that can end up being over $1K and not so budget either.

Powertrax no slip, its a locker not a posi. I have one in my car and love it, very easy to install and reasonablely priced. Or you can get a lock right does the same thing but is a little cheaper but not quite as strong.

I think that's the same one I bought. It works GREAT!! Normal driving you don't notice anything different until you accelerate lightly while turning sharply and you hear the inside tire chirp, chirp a little. Then you know its still working. :D

    Is that a clutch-type system?

Currently I have just installed the Eaton True-Trak in my truck (the exploded pic above), and REALLY like it. Willing to slap one in my car in a second. But it is almost twice the price of the Ford Trac-Lock setup.

I prefer the helical gear setup as opposed to clutch packs.
