Just wondering if anyone has experimented with Airride suspension? I have installed a Martz chassis rearend with Shockwave airbags and I am going to buy the shockwaves for up front, too. The question is, Airride lists them for 64-66 Mustang and 67-70 Mustang. Which one will work for the maverick? This will eliminate the shock absorber and coil spring, so if Mustangs and Mavs are interchangeable, which year works?? Thanks for any help....

I used a suspension kit for a '67-'70 Mustang for my Mav, and it worked just fine, so I think that would be the one you would use.

Post some pics when you get it done. I have been wondering about that airride set up for the front. I'm still working on the rear right now.

I am interested in the Martz Chassis rear setup. Is it installed yet? Can you post pictures? :)

I am looking at both front and rear Martz clips for a Mustang project and would love to hear feedback from someone who has installed their kits.

    Thanks

Check out my gallery Jay, I have a few fotos there. The stuff from Martz is awesome and very simple to install. Well, relatively... I had to narrow it a bit to fit the Maverick, but no big deal. I hope it performas as good as they say, but a good 4 link will beat the leafs anyday! I am still waiting to order my rims and tires, as I want to get the whole setup in operation to see what kind of clearances I will have. I am hoping to fit a 305/35-18 outback???? We shall see...

    ?

Hey Earl. When you say you used a suspension kit for a 67-70 Mustang, did you mean an Air Ride Tech. setup? I was checking out their front setup 'cuz my springs are all hacked up. Seems like someone out there would have stuck them on a Mav' by now . . .

    BTW . . . Tanger show-is it Saturday?

Sam; no, just the stock stuff for the Mustang. Never considered the air ride.

Physically, the 67-70 front suspension parts are the same. By this I mean the upper and lower a-arms, mounting locations, angles, etc. The are minor differences in the spindles which means different tie rod ends and bearings are used between these spindles.

For your purposes, specify a '70 Mustang with a 302 when ordering. This will get the shock valving close and will get you parts that will bolt up to your stock spindles and steering components. The spring rate will be determined by the air bags and pressure in them. I am looking forward to hearing how you like the airride suspension when you have it on all four corners.

Great pictures in your gallery. Thank you for posting them. If you can find the time, it would be great if you could add a tech writeup detailing the trials and tribulations as well as lessons learned from the installation of the rear setup. This would be a valuable addition to the special topics forum.:)

Sam; I'll be at Tanger about 3:30pm or so. It's early, but want to get a good place, and catch up with the guys. Been a long winter.
