i was looking at the ones on my cutlass and they seem to have the same basic shape as maverick ones but alot more commonly found. before i take off and test fit mine i was wondering if this has been done already? i dug this shot off ebay, really the only good one i could quickly find[IMG] there are plenty of these cars rotting away in junk yards and 90% of the ones ive seen have those mirrors

I've got 4 G-body Malibus.....and a few extra sets of sport mirrors. I hadn't even thought of that.

They'd probably look fine on a Maverick or Comet, if you can stomach using a Stovebolt part on your Ford! LOL.....but I've never compared them to the Mav/Com sport mirrors (neither of my Mavs have 'em.....yet) so I can't comment on their similarities or differences.

I imagine if the mounting bolt pattern is the same or close, they'd work, otherwise you might have to do some drilling.

You would have to drill. The bolts are futher apart on the Fords.
Use the front Ford hole, then drill the rear.
That will locate the mirror far enough forward that it looks right.

Mine had Malibu mirrors, fortunately I found a pair of Comet GT mirrors.

Here is a pic with the Chevy mirrors:

Being a bit taller....I think if they were mounted a little bit farther forward, they'd look pretty good.

I have them on my maverick and they look good to me !! there off a 70 olds cutlass short pedestal, drivers side is remote cable. the side view mirrows pictored above have the long pedestal.

With it being taller, maybe you can see over those huge hips our cars have that make the sport mirrors almost useless. :)

MY hips are NOT huge...speak for yourself if you are out of shape :D

Is it just an optical illusion? the ones in the top picture don't look as tall as the ones on the comet.

Or maybe the malibu has taller mirrors than the cutlass...

The pedestals on my old man's Chevy Monza sport mirrors are much shorter than those!
They are probably just like Fords and use a different post for each different model of car.
If you put a Ford mirror on a Torino post and stick them on a Maverick, it will look way too tall for the car. The 70-71 Torino mirrors are very tall, but the bullet (top) part is identical to all the rest.

    Edit:
Fwiw, they do look REALLY good on the Comet, other than being a little tall.
Look for shorter post versions and I bet they look great on a Ford.
