thanks this seems like a great deal if it will work for me too. If not I guess I will pay for the 100.00 summit one. Now if I could just get time off work and school to work on it a little it would help thanks a ton Wililam
new question?? does it matter if I get my flywheel balanced or not. I talked to a guy today and he said that he never balances them and that is doesn't matter. That is just takes away starter life. Is this true if so I will just bolt it up without balancing thanks William
Obviously that guy doens't know what he is talking about. Take it somewhere else! It matters a lot. Improper balance, or not matching the balance weights will do just what it says .. NOT BALANCE the engine/tranny combo. Being not balanced will cause massive vibrations, which would be killer on your whole drivetrain (imagine what the main bearings would look like after having the crank spin off center in them for a while!!!), not to meantion annoying you in the car. Have it balanced, so it doesn't damage anything, and you don't have to take the tranny and engine out to fix things. Take the flexplate to another shop, and no matter what that guy says, you need it balanced! -Corbin P.S. I am not trying to be mean, but the balance HAS to be there and uniform.
if you you have a 200 or 250 -6 c4 you need to change the drums they only have 3 &4 clutch drum set-up the 302 will smoke the 3 clutch drum so you need to check this for sure the v-8 has a 4&5 drum set-up if you have a 80 block it,s a 28 oz you can use a stock flex plate 157 85 up were 50 oz bal you can change the bell if it is a case fill c-4 the 157 has a 10 1/2 bolt pattern 26 spline 1970 &up
Actually if your motor is fairly stock the 250 trans will hold up fine. I've had a 250 trans behind my basicall stock 289, 4bbl & edlebrock intake, for more than 4 years and I drive the hell out of it evertime I get in it. I do recommend putting a shift kit in it (they are less than $40) because it causes firmer shifts so less slippage, and run type F fluid. If your putting some punch in your motor then take Fordman's advice.
