In need of a new carb. What is the best carb for a 200ci? If I stay with the carter yf what is better reman or NOS? If I go with a 2bbl what is the best one. I can't fab any parts to stupid for that. So, Best bolt on. Also will a 1970 carb for 250ci fit on a 1974 200ci maverick. :hmmm:

I like the Carter YF series. Easy to rebuild and adjust. The 250, as far as I know, came with a Carter RBS, which is quite different from the YF series. If you have your old carb you can get a rebuild kit for under $20 or send it out and have a shop do it. One other 1970 carb thing. 1970 used a different throttle linkage set up and the carbs for 70 had a lower positioning of the cable mount / pivot. Later carbs had the pivot mounted higher. Some models of carbs have both a high mount and low mount pivot to work with either throttle cable set up.

Rebuilds are also easy to locate on ebay. You just need to make sure you get the right one for your throttle set up.

    :)

If I could be a little more clear on the cable mounts with some ebay pictures.

This is the 1970 low cable mount

This is the higher, later mount

And this is that hybrid with both a low and high cable mount

Yes, exactly right - you need the higher mounted one since your throttle cable comes over the top of the valve cover.

Here are a couple of pictures of an NOS Ford remanufactured one I have on my shelf. I would be willing to sell it - PM me if you need one.

Looks like the right one for your car. See the higher linkage mount and the external high idle screw in this picture.
