I also haven't had any trouble with burning plug wires. Easiest header install I've ever done too. the pitman arm thing is weird, but pretty minor.

One nice thing about the 6901's is the thick flanges. Haven't had a header leak problem like I did with the Blackjack's. I will have to look to see how close my pitman arm get's to them. That does seem strange.

My car has 6901`s with Victor Jr. heads and Accel 300+ wires (also ran them with 65 289 heads) NO problems of ANY kind. :)

F.Y.I. these are 1-5/8" tubes. Nothing wrong with that (at all).

The Hooker 6208-1's are 1-3/4" tubes (and a b*%$h to install).

Without knowing your other mods, I'd say the lower end of the range (12-15).

Obviously, the more mods you have (intake, cam, heads, etc) the more you'll realize.

What are you mods again (I'm too lazy to search)?

Hello everyone! Great threads on this topic. I'm looking to get a set of the Hooker 6901's recommended, but before I ordered them, just wanted to check, when you all installed them, did you have to squeeze any of the tubes to get them to fit? Also, in assuming these are long tubes? I'm looking at the ceramic and putting them in a 71 302 Grabber with an automatic transmission.

Hooker headers but I had a horrible bump steer problem due to the factory power steering and the aftermarket drop bracket to clear the headers.
    See thread http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/headers-cause-bumpsteer-help.78980/

Now the way I fixed this was I yanked out the Ford factory p/s and installed a borgenson P/S conversion box. That eliminated the hydraulic ram and drop bracket and the headers cleared the new manual steering linkage fine. Bump steer is GONE. I didn't use the Borgenson ball socket adapter to run the p/s steering linkage. With manual steering linkage the steering is tight.
