That looks to be a 78-79 Celica. Didn't they use a Bricklin in the TV movie that started the TV series "Hardcastle and Mccormick" back in the early 80's? Then when they started the series, they went with the Coyote, a kit car on a VW frame with either a Porsch or Corvair engine, IIRC.
I dont really care for the styling on Bricklins, but I do apreciate their uniqueness. Happened to see one this morning before reading this thread. It was a red-orange 75 with a 351 and air powered gull wings. It had 14K miles on it and it was for sale. he was asking $39,000. Seemed steep to me.
On the chop cut show they said that they had 2 designs and after they picked the one they wanted they sold the other design to John DeLorin and it became the DeLorin, car had a lot of parts from the different car manufactors but some of the parts that were Bricklin only(like some of the glass) are hard to find, the finished chop cut car was sweet! http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/31/sema-sideshow-bricklin-sv1-show-car/
The Bricklin is cool just cause it's rare! Like others have said - the white one is a Celica. Here are pics of '78s for comparison.
Being Canadian, and with them being built in Canada, we've always considered them as a bit of a joke, the history of the government funding and how it ended has always been a topic of discussion whenever one pops up at a cruisenight. There was a local guy that bought one new, you'd see him from time to time, but somehow he wrecked it one day, and that was the end of him and his Brickland. So much for "Safety Vehicle". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bricklin_SV-1
