In the May issue of Mustangs and Fords Branda is offering chrome reproduction bumper for mustangs....65-8 and 69-70. Would any of these fit or could be made to fit a Maverick...Especially the front?
t-mav, welcome to the board. i don't think the bumpers will fit . will have to rechrome or go fiberglass. do you have pics. of the mav...frank...:bananaman :bananaman
No pics 71 Gold. I've had the car for two years and it needs a lot of work. Solid sheetmetal ....drove it home from S.C. Due to health probs done nothing but research and plan. I'll begin dissembly in the next few weeks. The (T) was for the EFI engine from a T bird I was going to use. Changed plans. Gonna keep it simple....after all it's just an old Ford.
I dont think the front will work because the mustang bumper has a "bulge" in the front(kinda like a comet).I know the rear will bolt up,but the ends dont come up far enough to meet the fender caps(quarter extensions),also the rear is just a bit too wide for the maverick/comet as well.
Is the Vatican just a church? Is Super Walmart just a store? Is a Harley just a bike? Is Shania Twain just a woman? Common man, We need more enthusiasm!!!
don't know about Shania Twain but Reba ain't just a woman - you want enthusiasm out of this old man bring Reba into a show. . . come to think of it my wife might not like THAT much enthusiasm from me unless it was aimed at her. PaulS
Took you guys a long time to react. At first I thought somebody else was posting on my name. Forgot (oltimers) about the bumper deal. Gonna keep mine...and paint them. After so long with my head in the clouds.....it's just an old Ford keeps me grounded in reality....limited ability and finances....unlimited imagination. What about recontouring the fenders with some big flares to accomodate 24" rims....like a Mav on steroids or shorten it to make a sporty two seater. There are some cars you wouldn't dream of altering...great classics....so that only a professional concours restoration would be acceptable. Thank God I don't have one of them. I get butterfies each time I work on my old Ford. Some time after most of the Mavs have been crushed or butchered by amateurs like me those that remain wont't be just old Fords but truely rare classics. You know sometimes it ain't what you say but the way how you say it. When I say it's just an old Ford I mean even though I may repair or fix daily I'd rather have it than your tri-year Chebby cause Im a Maverick too.
I agree, "just on ole Ford" has a lot of nostalgia for me.... Best damnd motors in God's creation as far as I'm concernd
