So im having some troubles with my car and im not sure what it is but im guessing the carb is out of tune or the timing is off?Usually when i start the car it will want to shut off if im not gassing it for a while, then once i start driving it'll wanna shut off unless i pump some gas into it?Then when i floor it from a dead stop it'll just turn off and that bugs me,i love me some good ol burnouts.I havent always had these problems just in the last month or so?If anyone can help diagnose and fix this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well the motor is a 302 and i just switched the fuel filter bout a month ago,and so a full tune up would be the best option?

does your car still have points?
it sounds like the points are worn out and need replacement. its a good time to switch out to an electric ignition conversion like a pertronix. also the coil could be going bad. weak spark energy can cause those symptoms also, another reason that you could benefit from going to an electric ignition system that includes a coil.
what carb is on the motor also?

Point gap too close, late ign timing, weak carb pump shot, low float level, dirty fuel filter are the most common issues... Weak coil, wires, plugs, cap, rotor are usually contributing factors...

If you've recently removed the heated air pickup from the air cleaner snorkel, now you know why it was there...

Alright well me and my dad looked everything over and found a loose bolt on the distributer base(dont i feel dumb) and the timing kept moving, messed with the timing and it seems to have solved the full throttle shut offs :p now i gotta wait for it to cool down a bit to see how the other stuff is gonna respond.fingers crossed

time to get a timing light.
you should look into the pertronix 2 and the pertronix flame thrower coil
