Yep, it's plastic. I wish I had a picture right now, but I think I will take one anyway and when I get them developed I will post it. The California thing is a good observation, but it is only for the heater/ac controls, so I don't know why they would be different. Anyone else in Ca, have a plastic one? My car was an LDO if it matters.

I finished the resto just in time for the roundup. Since then I now have a little over 300 miles on it. Mainly I just go to the local cruses and shows. If I could ever get the motor to stop eating cams, I would have had it on the strip by now. Got an all Ford show to go to this weekend and next weekend and both are at dragstrips. It kills me not to be able to race it. I'm going to build another motor this winter for it.

Mavaholic that has got to be the cleanest Mav Engine compartment i've ever seen, it looks better then some brand new cars, good job. I wish mine looked that clean it's the opposite of that, I'd like to know how you got it that clean.

    Re: vacuum cannisters

I helped a buddy cut a late 80 something mustang up to build a roundtrack race car and the vacuum cannister for these cars is plastic and about the size of a softball. Maybe the one you are asking about is a replacement cannister. This one was under the fender. I don't believe there would be a plastic one on a Maverick/Comet. So, maybe the plastic one was a replacement.
