I don't believe there are any companies out there offering a stripe so I thought I would. I have the Comet hood stripe available in vinyl if anyone is interested. Depending on the amount of interest will determine the final price, the more I get cut the cheaper the price. Estimated to be in the $145.00 range.

These took several revisions to get correct, the hood lines although they look straight, are not. There is a very slight curve that is not noticeable when running tape parallel to the hood lines. A straight cut edge piece of vinyl will not look right.

The factory stripes were laid out by hand and varied depending who was taping that day, or what kind of day they were having, maybe it was a Monday or a Friday.

This is obviously much cheaper than paying a body shop to tape it off and spray it, never understood why the sides were vinyl and the hood was painted.

NOTE: the narrow outer stripe portion is slightly narrower than the factory painted stripe, it is the same width as the side stripes, looks better in my opinion. The fat O.E.M. painted stripe just looked fat and out of place.

Anyone who has one of my V-8 clutch balls will know how anal I am with quality. I hate spending hard earned money, and getting substandard, poor quality, bad fitting parts, that usually end up in the corner collecting dust because its to much cost and work to send them back.

Are they satin black or gloss black?

    Looking good!
I'll have a thorough look at my car this weekend to see whether I need one.

Cool that you’re offering it but it’s not for me, all my stripes will
be painted on and buried in clear.

I’m no where close to needing them yet, but at $145.00; I would buy two. Just don’t need them yet, but will be. Awesome!

Thanks for taking the initiative to do this decal on your own. You're right, though; many repro parts are inferior. I don't know why you'd take the time, make the effort, and spend the money for something that isn't right.
My '72 will need a decal, but it's not a GT. Does it come without the holes, or does the decal just have a template for the holes? I won't be using a hood scoop. Also, does the decal come in white? I'm having custom side stripes made without the "Comet GT" lettering. My car is Competition Blue. The stripes should really make that color pop.
    Fordially,
