The threaded bolt that holds the fuse box/harness halves together does not have power to it...But... there is an accessory lug/blade/bung/bus...whatever you want to call it in a spot on the fuse box marked "ACC" this does have power to it and its there for...Accessories...Like TUK said..."install an inline fuse in your circuit" if you use this .
i forgot to post that i've had everything hooked up for a while now, two 6x9's in the back, and 2 tweeters up front (one in either corner of the package tray) it sounds really good, just gotta do a little sound proofing to get rid of the hollow sound...lol.
Even though the car did not come with a cigarette lighter, the wire will still be there for it on the harness.
i looked for the lighter harness, but i couldn't find anything with key on power other than the stock radio harness. i just used a bullet connector to tap into the stock harness
Post some pictures of it! And the cig lighter harness might be over by the column wiring--mine was over that way when I was poking around; might even be over by the center speaker. You know its L shaped, right? Funny how there is a spot for a lighter, a plug for it, but no lighter in it. I ck'd out an old '70 and a '74 and they both had a spot, no lighter but had a plug for the hole--mine was long gone, until now!
i took the original power wire off the original radio, i grounded the hheadunit to the metal crossmember that holds the bottom piece of the dash then i used the cigarette lighter fuse for constant power. works very well.
is this a bad idea? saftey wise? i had a power port (cig lighter without the lighter) put in a while back and it has a in line fuse. to get my back lights for my guages to work i have to take the inline fuse out an put the light wires in there and put the fuse back in. so would it be a good idea to do the same thing with my memory wire? thanks
