The only resemblance is the tail lights, and the Maverick got them first.

I hate when anyone refers to a Maverick as a "pinto". At that point, I want nothing to do with them.

Yeah, I've gotten nova and Maverick comment. How you can get a Pinto out of a Maverick or Comet is beyond me.

My point is that they look nothing alike, aside from having the same tail lights on the early Pintos.

I guess it just irritates me when, instead of just admitting they don't know what kind of car it is, they call it something it's not.

I know so little but it's always obvious when someone is spouting BS. I just join in and say whatever random car related thing jumps out at me. Most of the time they realize I'm screwing with them and walk away. It's that game of how much BS can you come up with before you come up with something the other person can't tolerate.

yeah.. I agree. Too much similarity to ignore the possibility. And I also see many who didn't know that Comets transitioned to the Maverick architecture. Even some of the more seasoned vet's still think all Comets were just squared off Falcon derivatives.

The guys at O'Reilly's here all call me "Pinto man" and even put it on my account, I argued till I was blue about it being a maverick that I think it just fueled it more, Now I just go with it

I actually describe mine as a Pinto on steroids to people that have no idea what a Maverick is. It would be so much easier if I were to get off my butt and get it running so they could see it!

Around here the teens and 20s call my maverick a Nova, while the old folks call it a Vega!

Pintos & Vegas are not even in the same category as Mavericks/Comets.
Nothing against Pintos, but it really irritates me when people refer to Mavericks as Pintos, or in the same category.
