I'm in the process of doing a complete power disc swap from supposedly a 75 mav into my 73 comet what I found is the brake pedal mount and pedal is totally different and does not seem to be 75 Maverick i.e. different bolt pattern for firewall (much larger pattern) and booster and steering column mounts and dash mounts not even close , i.e. would require a diiferent column or mount on the column.and the upper column /pedal mount support will not work.

    maybe not a 75 maverick mount ??
    am i missing peices ??
In the forums I can only find reference to firewall mods required nothing about a totally different column or column braces ect.
    ideas ???? Thanks all

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
If you want an easy route don't swap over the power stuff, just the disc part.

I have had so many headaches dealing with the power brake stuff on my car, I wish it came with manual brakes.

    brakes

I really want the power assist and thought i had the complete system from a 75 mav their the correct spindles calipers rotors master and booster as far as i can tell it's the darn underdash pedal mount that makes no sense !! oh yeah minimum manual disc !!
plans for the future is 4 wheel disc , Dang maybe one of those abs or geo conversions would be easier now !!

Did you strip the parts from the power brake car?

I swapped 75 power discs into a 72 Comet and then into a 73 Maverick(when I wrecked the Comet) without any issues. Just had to drill the hole for the pedal rod booster mounts. You DO have to use everything from the disc brake car to my knowlegde. That would include the booster and mount, pedal assembly, master cyl, pedal rod, shock tower brace, etc. The booster/master cyl angles up to the right to clear the shock tower and engine components and the pedal assembly is totally different for a power brake car.

The column should work, the braces might be different.

No i didn't pull them myself !! they were in the trunk of the car when I bought it, and I was told it was the complete system from a 75 Maverick but i'm not sure now> no offset spacer/bracket. but eveything else other then the underdash pedal mount seems to be correct etc right down to the engine bay lines and bias valve booster etc. oh well if it's not correct at least I got the right spindles and calipers and rotors !!!

I have used both. I use manual 4 wheel discs now and I don't have any issue with them. I actually prefer the firm pedal.

If you prefer power brakes, there are other options without having to use the Maverick setup. Mavdog has a power booster that fit with mild modifications and someone else too. Do a site search and see what you come up with. There are a few members here that have done power brakes without the angled booster. If you don't have ALL of the pieces for the Maverick setup, I don't think it will work. The pedal geometry is such that it pushes up at an angle to actuate the booster and the oddball components are what makes that possible.

Yes.....Maverick power disc brakes require a different pedal and a different pedal mounting bracket. You can use the same steering column.

I have the pedal and bracket you need. Email me DIRECTLY (see below) if I can help.
