I am in need of rebuilding the door hinges on my car so I can get correct alignment. Will Mustang parts work, or are they Maverick specific? With Mustangs Unlimited close by it would be great for me to be able to install Mustang parts.

Also, I cut the bottom of both quarters today along the lower body line to get ready to weld on the new quarters. I already bought the lower patch panels from a 65 Mustang for the outer wheel house. But today I discovered that the upper lips are in poor shape as well. I was thinking that I could buy outer wheel houses for a 65 'Stang and just splice in what I need.

Has anyone done this repair? Thoughts on whether it will work or not?

    Thanks,
    Glenn

I bought all of my hinge pin kits at a NAPA Auto Parts store.

As shown in the link put forth by Mr. Dave Boyer :dancing:

I bought my hinge pins and bushings from AutoKrappers. Outer wheelhouse - mine needed replaced when I had the body redone about 13 years ago. Couldn't find them anywhere. The body guy made new ones by brazing together strips of steel in the needed shape. Added about $500 to my bill.

Matched mine up at Carquest. I think they were for a Sunfire if I remember right. Perfect fit. Had to open the old holes slightly which was a good thing due to wear. Pins are just too long and need to be cut off. My bodyman was really happy with the fit into the hinges.

I would think the Mustang pins would be a standard pin size for all Fords. I'll call my parts guy tomorrow, and see what he says..I have a worn hinge I have to fix, on my other 73.

Funny you seem to forget about all those little jobs it takes to finish a car. By the time you find hardware then clean and fit everything then prep and paint them those little hinges soak up a bit of time. All those little jobs added up is damn scary.:yup:
My parts guy just brought out all his boxes of pins and a vernier. Didnt have any old Ford ones in stock but the ones we used were perfect for what I needed.

I used the NAPA kit in mine, too. Worst part about it was having to buy the funky-sized drill bit.

drill bit cost more than the pins but the door sure closes well.
    worth $15
