i was wondering how interchangable the doors are on mavericks??

the 2dr mav is rather a PITA to open, the button is really tough to push, i am not sure what the cause of the problem is, but i wasn't sure if maybe just changing the doors is even possible? is fixing the button/switch easy to do??

    thanks :)

a w, if the button is the prob. then you may want to remove the door panel. this way you can see the button from the inside. this will alow you to get to where it may need to be lubed. i had one that was sticking to the point that when i lubed it from the outside it didn't help because the rod was bent. hope this helps...frank...:bananaman :bananaman

I had the same problem with my button sticking and having to yank teh door open. I removed the door panel and adjusted the button and it opened more freely on mine. But of course it is doing it again so it is time for me to try adjusting it some more. Good Luck with it and hope this helps.

Yes the doors will interchange. The only differance is where the latch and arm rests are on the inside. 70-72 latch is near the center of the door 73-77 the latch is towards the front and down low. So if you get a differant set of door make sure you get the inner panels too. Russ

    hang on a second here

It's a lot less work to change a latch mechanism than to hang and align a door.
    Try fixing the latch first.
The best way would be to find a car at the wrecking yard and remove the latch and all the rods that attatch to it.
By the time you have all of that out of the other car, you'll not only know how to change the parts, but hopefully will have been able to figure out how they all work together to open and latch the door.
    Good luck!:D

Based on this theory, couldn't i just take apart the door from my 4door mav and use all those parts/knowledge to reinstall it into the 2dr door? it makes sense to me, :bananaman i think i will have to do that.

    4dr

There may be some differences in the linkage parts, but the latch mechanism itself should be the same.
