I have a '72 2-door, will '76 or '77 door fit? do the body lines match up perfectly? these doors I'm looking at have stainless trim on the top of the door along the glass, my doors do not. The inside door handle is in a different location. Thanks, Craig
They will swap over, but they do have differences like you have noticed. The later door will also have an inner door brace that provides better protection in case you're ever involve in a car accident. This makes them quite heavier than the early doors.
The differences you have stated...as well as some late 1976 and all 1977 doors are smooth on the inside...not "grained". Yes...the door handles on the inside are in a different spot....which means you will also need the different door panels and arm rests. You could switch the "guts" of the inside of the door in order to switch the door handle loaction, but that would require some work. Might be easier to just fix the doors you have if that is the case.
Depending on where you are located I have a real nice set of doors from a 73. The door handles are in the wrong position but it has teh provisions for the early door handle stamped into it. You could use your mechanisms in these doors. I'm in Ky.
I wonder ...how much heaver? Anyone throw one an early door on the bathroom scale. I know a complete '75 door with glass weighs in at 48 lbs.
Ok this good information, this for my back half drag car so I would want to trim some weight. Would it be easy or worth the time to cut out the inter bracing my doors are not bad but these are rust free.Also I do not want fiberglass.

Rthomas, man I would have thought that they wieghed much more than that. Seems like I'm ready to bust a nut everytime I have to pick them up and move them. Maybe I need to get back to the gym
