I got that project started earlier this year by taking door panels to Distinctive Industries to use as patterns. The panels were last in the R & D stage at my last contact with them. They will supply Autokrafters and Melvins among others in the very near future with the reproduction door panels. They will be available in standard, deluxe and LDO, early and late models and will feature the correct chrome mylar trimming and early deluxe panels will be offered with the comfortweave or woodgrain insert. My last contact with the VP of Distinctive Industries I was told the round medallion would not be present on the new reproduction panels because it would be cost prohibitive. I will keep the board posted as news comes in.

And you will be able to place orders for the new reproduction panels from one of the following, helping cut down on the shipping cost for most:

I think this is awesome, when I talked to the guys at Distinctive in Charlotte, they seemed pretty excited about making them, but with most stuff they couldn't say what the time line would be, at that time.

Bkelley has a knack of being able to approach companies to get reproduction parts made for our cars without having to cover the cost of tooling and/or buying a minimum amount like we have been lead to believe. This included getting the Air Pressure Decals reproduced of all year Comets and most years for the Maverick with no out of pocket expense.

Thanks Dave for posting the information from Autokrafters. BIG thanks to you rthomas771, without you supplying me with the door panels to take to Distinctive Industries Jeff, this project may have been delayed many more years....

biggruss, the door panels will be covered in vinyl and look like your OEM panel minus the round medallion. The backing boards you referred to have been available for several years now.

ALSO.... for those that did not notice in Dave's post, seat upholstery is also being made by Distinctive Industries for our cars, so soon you will be able to purchase new seat covers and new door panels!!

A HUGE Thank You to... Jeff (rthomas771), Distinctive Industries and Jim Osborn Reproductions for helping our community!!

Please keep an eye on Dennis Carpenter as well, they are in the process of locating and identifying tooling for our cars as well... big hunt is on for the boomerang tooling, grilles tooling, washer reservoir etc just to name a few....... Keep checking his website as well for more Maverick parts!

The torino guys will also be happy about the washer reservoirs. Any word on hood lip moldings?

People only speak from their experience, I tried getting 71-74 gas tanks made, they wanted 10 grand up front.....the market has somewhat changed the last couple of years, I think everyone will be somewhat surprised at some of the stuff in the works for our cars.
