thats a cool project. a huge one to get on the street in just a few months. i would suggest geting a know good motor and trans out of someting else and just put them in the waggon. just rebuild the exsiting brakes. then all you need to do is fix up the body and interior. i would just get some bench seat out of the junk yard, some carpet, either from the auto parts store (they sell rolls of it) or a carpet store. pull out the old carpet and seats, save the seats for restoreatio later, thow away the old carpet. start cleaning the interior, spray paint it all back to some fresh colors. throw the new carpet in put the new bench in and it should be good on the interior. the outside body work will be the bigest challange. i dont have any sugestions on that. good luck and keep us updated with progress reports and pics.

You can leave the hood attached to the clip but I had to remove mine by myself and removing the hood made it just a little bit lighter.

either that or santa couldn't fit it down the chimney. The body work's not so bad except for the front and the rear gate. The floorboards are gone. I put my toolbox behind the front seat and its on the ground. literally. I got the doors off and the front seat out yesterday, and today I was sick, so it moved real slow so I only got the outer drivers side fender off today along with the grille and the filler panel that goes between the bumper and the grille. I wanna put it on some concrete so I can pull the motor out and put a new one in. The frame is better than I thought, so I reckon I'll just put the motor mounts in rather than swap clips. As for the carpet, unfortunately it was vinyl or something and it was ratted out. I'll just get some sturdy cheap replacement carpet till I can do the resto. I got one door panel off with the outer skin in fair shape. It's cracked and got some holes in it, but it should be good enough to make a copy outta something else.

well, yesterday the rain prevented any progress, and today was so wet and muddy. to make it worse, before i got started i stepped in a posthole I had dug next to the wagon when I wanted to raise the body and switch the whole frame. so soaked up to my knees, progress was slow, and I only got the other inner fender off and took some bolts off the dash trying to loosen it up so i can remove it later. The entire front end is dismantled, the motor mounts are undone. and I undid one of the bolts on the transmission holding the drive shaft on through the hole where the floor used to be. after I get the other three the motor should be ready to come out, but living in a swamp, it won't be dry till summer and can't relocate it without getting stuck. Man this stinks. I wish we'da put it on concrete.

thanks. wish it was as easy to fix as it is awesome, but then again, it wouldn't be fun, so I can't complain. Too bad there's not enough business around here to do it for a living. I like the old stuff, but I figure I'll earn a living working on the new stuff. (then grafting some of the better ideas into my old ones, since I'll be training in it anyways.) But for now, it's what I can put into it. And a very long list of need-to-do's. I should post it and use that for status reports...

That is a huge project. Later in the spring I may be able to get down to see it and maybe give you a hand.

yea it's huge. I'd love to take it to as many car shows as possible. You don't see enough of these things around. So if it's ready i'll take it to Joplin, Pettit Jean, Toad Suck, and any other car show I can get in to.

well, just went out on a limb and tried for more inspiration. I asked Sarah to the prom, and she's gonna give me her answer after church. obviously, a date gives me someone to impress, so the wagon's gotta be done. HOPEFULLY, I'll get the inspiration im lookin for in a couple hours. Then I'll be runnin out there stickin a drop light in there and workin till the parents start yelling at me... I need a lift... like at auto body.
