got some pieces cut out of the door, and am starting to cut the bottom off. ran outta time today and didn't get to finish. unless something else pops up, i just gotta fabricate patch panels and weld them in, grind it flush, prime it, and paint it, and have a new door so far as the door itself goes. the window crank broke on the way up there, and the window is cracked in half. the chrome is really good, and i think i may get it done in time for graduation. mr. pendley said he'd let me paint it so i can have some experience in painting and see what it looked like new.
One step at a time, things are coming together.

progress update... I am replacing 3 patches on the door skin, and replacing the entire bottom of the door frame. i have all the patches cut and formed them today. (found out english wheels are fun to use) I will weld them to the door tomorrow. ill try to get some pics with my cell phone. the panels are lining up nicely, and i think i like making patch panels. (especially with free metal and access to the plasma cutter, speedy cut, english wheel, hammers and dollies, and mig welders. not to mention a full-fledged paint booth.) :D

well, i walked into my bedroom thinkin i was gonna turn in for the night. wrong. i look on the radio and someone's put an old yellowed envelope there. I look at whats inside, and lo and behold, the title and registration certificates for the wagon. last updated 1970. the registration and the duplicate aren't even separated yet.
no real progress on the wagon yet. haven't even been able to go outside hardly due to mosquitoe infestations and uncooperative weather :( Maybe when I get a job and can afford parts i'll be able to really make progress. and i turn 18 next month, and my mom's boss keeps tellin her to make sure i come in when i turn 18, so if i can't get a job, i can fall back on that. well, goodnight. it's 3:20 and i'm a little tired.

Best way to get rid of those mosquitoes is some RAID and a BBQ lighter ;)
    Awesome wagon! I'm jealous!

Well, the wagon is on hold yet again, but i have decided that rather than simply try to replace the rusted parts with patches the way it is now, i plan on completely tearing down the wagon, patching it up, straighten all the panels, put a drivetrain on the frame and do the brakes and fuel lines and stuff while the body is off. along with the suspension, then maybe put a floor pan down and do the carpet and seats. do the interior on the body, and then put it on the frame, then sand it all down and paint it up right.
i figure that it'll be the easiest route considering as fast as i can fix it up as it is, it will surely rust away in another area while im working on one, and since it'll take forever anyways, why not take the little extra time and do it right? this way ill have a genuinely nice wagon that i can truly be proud to drive and it should be dependable. but as i said, its on hold. i have my mav right now and will soon have a comet hopefully and then after i get relocated to a larger place and can build a shop, i'll save the wagon. build a show-quality wagon that's capable of being a daily driver.
