Yep, they fit! I wrote a tech article about it.

I figured we could keep that thread mostly clean, and use this one for discussing it in the true MMB style which usually ends up not belonging in a tech article...

Posts that don't belong in a thread... we wouldn't do that. ;)

I guess I was inviting derailment by even saying that... But what I meant was let's have the controversy of WHY we shouldn't put van springs on our cars over here, and the discussion of HOW to do it over there...

Might be best to use a C-clamp to hold things together before removing the pack of springs.

I would like to point out that stout springs are surely a plus in the battle to keep our upper shock mounts secure. Weak rear springs invite excess pressure to be applied to those anchor points, which have shown to be lacking strength in our cars.

    Good job.
I'm glad to hear of an easy option.

    Can I start hijacking now?

So...did you keep the Mav main leaf and add 3 van leafs,or 4?

Actually I only added two van springs, for a total of three per side. I used the larger two. I will probably keep experimenting, but for now I like this a lot. My only complaint is I'm about an inch higher in the back than in the front. I could correct that with a different spring configuration, I could use 1" lowering blocks, or I could leave it alone. Haven't decided which way to go yet, and I probably won't until I settle on my final spring arrangement.

Hows about taking and posting pictures of the car with each configuration as you experiment to give others an idea which leafs are best to start with to get the look they want? Say a profile shot from the front, a shot looking directly at the side and a shot from the rear.

    Update:

I wouldn't have expected used springs to "settle" like new ones, but they did. It sits just about perfect now. A bit less than an inch higher than the front when the trunk is empty, and pretty much level with a spare tire, a full tank of gas and some tools in it.

Yeah, now I really want to play with the front springs too, but I'm hesitant with the 235's in the front. I'm afraid if I do anything to the front it might rub when I steer. It doesn't now, but it's got to be on the ragged edge...

Faceless, I am very interested to see a picture of the ride height that your car is at now. I saw some of the pics in your gallery and agree that it needed help. Mine does too. I am planning on experimenting with this myself. Might even make half-leafs for traction purposes.

    Very, very cool!

I don't have any good pics yet, but here's what I do have.

This is with 1/4 tank of gas, an empty trunk, on the day after I installed the springs. After some driving and adding my spare tire, lug wrench and jack it came down quite a bit. I will try to get you another pic today on my lunch break.
