i thought a 77 would have the fender emblem instead of the sail panel?

Not that i am aware of. I am still trying to find a good picture of it. I do remember that it was a red crest mounted on the sail panel of the 77 comet...Arne

theres the red crest on the hood but then i thought the earlier comets also had 'comet" written out on the sail panel before putting it on the fender later in the run. idk for sure either way but my 76 4dr has it on the fender

The "O" in the part number indicates a Torino part. I don't think it's what your looking for. Although a lot of mechanical parts have the "O" prefix, body parts are
almost (but not always) car specific. Mechanical parts are shared across car lines.
