My '70 has 2 1/2 inch from the headers to a pair of Polished Stainless Supertrapps out the back. And yes the 70 tank has the pickup in front.

Yep, i can't wait! I don't think my time will be accurate though, as i was running about 12 jet sizes too lean with the open header (proform recommends 72/84 jets, but i didn't know that at the time and was using 71/72 jets). Best time with old exhaust was 15.5, open header went down to a 14.7 @98 mph. Not bad considering our track is at 6,000 ft and i was jetted way too lean! My "old" exhaust (as of tomorrow) is 2.25 and is crimped in too many places to mention!

I checked my clearances this afternoon, doesnt look like there will be any problems. Im gonna pipe it back to the flows and let the pros take it from there... I should be able to run it around town without attracting the wrong attention...;)

BTW...Im a little disappointed in my header paint... Duplicolor 1200 degree ceramic...it flaked off about a foot down starting at the heads...holding up ok further down.

I'll post some more pics in the "Under Construction" thread in the main forum.

The header paint. Most of the time it has to be cured a little slow. If it is hit with full heat, binder in the paint at the pipe surface boils up through the coating tearing it way so the curing process has to be done a little slowly to get it to stay.
Also the prepration before painting has a lot to do with the outcome.

Well the Flows are piped in about 18 inches off the header with 2 1/2" pipe....Geez this thing SOUNDS GREAT:bananaman
they dump right there for now...I'll let the guys with the benders take it from here.

Something strange happened...my oil pressure use to run 60 pounds at idle and then drop off about 10 pounds after 10 minutes at idle....now it stays steady at 60 pounds since the mufflers were put on...can anyone explain that...unless its due to puttin back pressure on the engine now.

My prep and paint on the headers took about a week...all rust was removed...carb cleaner to clean them and a coat of paint a day for five days:confused:

Thx for all the help guys:clap:   :bananaman

Actually Collo, you want to jet leaner at altitude.

Were the recomendations that you were getting accounting for altitude?

No, the recommendations are for a "starting point", which is why my current jetting is at 69/82. Still quite a bit richer than the 71/72 that i was running before! I changed my timing a bit (got rid of the vacuum advance) and set it for more total advance and full advance sooner, and it seems to want more gas again now--but no pinging so i'm safe...i think it's time to stick it on the dyno :)
