F-100 28 or 31 splines for my maverick?

    Hello, I have a 71' F-100 with a nine inch rear with a 350 gear ratio, would that be a 28 or a 31 spline? I have a nine inch rear for my maverick and will be using the 28 spline axles. I know most trucks have 31 splines, but I do not know if the older trucks had them or not. Thanks Robert(y)

    72 sprint v/8 3 grabbers 73 comet and a 77 comet race car
    being an f 100 there is a good chance that it will be 28 spline they did not all come 31 spline in the f100

    My bet would be 28 since it is a 71. If it was a 73 or later all bets would be off. Pull the wheel. 4 bolts and slide the axle out and find out.
    You still have to be concerned about the length of the axle.

    probly 28 splines, pull one out and count it.


    Seems most trucks that had 31's all 4wd some 400m trucks and all 460's

    I finally scored a set for my truck after 2 years of junkyarding ;)
