I purchased some replacement splash guards and i noticed that the ones on my 69.5 have a notch in them on the lower outer edge and the ones i bought do not and they are off a 73. I know they will work but why the difference?

I think its because 69.5 thru 72 had the small bumpers and the fenders have a notch in them.
73 and later the fenders don't have a notch.

I know I noticed that Sam when you were at my house. It must have been notched to go around some type of bracing on the front fender is all I can guess.

I took a quick look inside the fender and there is a nut that the rear lower front fender bolts up to. Maybe it just goes around that. I'm not really concerned about it just something i noticed!
