There's no specific "offset" for a Maverick. I don't expect that any wheels made for a front-wheel drive car would fit properly.

You should be more concerned with back-spacing than offset (rear-wheel drive wheels). You can run anywhere from a 3-1/2" backspace to a 4-1/4" backspace without modifications, providing that the tire width is compatible. A typical 14x6" Ford wheel has a 3-1/2" backspace, while a 14x7"has a 4-1/4".

what's the widest wheel I could fit with no mods, I'd like a 9-10 but if not 8 is good

ok I see, I just found some 15X8 cragers with a 4 inch backspace but 10's are starting to seem out of the question

I'm running 15 x 10's on the rear of mine with a 5" backspace, tires are 295/50's. Only "mod" I did was add helper springs to stiffen the stock springs and roll the fender lips to avoid scuffing my tires should they ever rub. But they never do. Wheels are Wheel Vintiques Chevy truck repops with a dual bolt pattern. They match the fronts which are 70's vintage 15 x 8 Mopar cop car wheels. If I had run 275/50's, the helper springs would have never been needed.

No disrespect, but I am doubting the "5-inch backspace". That would rub the leafsprings with a stock Maverick rearend. When you say no mods, I assume a stock rearend.

You can doubt all you want but my wheels DO have a 5" backspace,I ordered them that way, I checked em when I received em, and I put them on myself, as I also did the rearend swap myself. There's a half inch clearance between the sidewall of the 295's and the leaf springs. You can also gain some room by loosening the U bolts and using a prybar, moving the spring inboard while retightening the U bolt. And as I recall, I'm not the only member here that's running tens with a 5" backspace.

I still doubt it, because when I had 15x8s with a 4-1/2" backspace, I had to run spacers to prevent rubbing the leafsprings with only a 235 tire. So if a 4-1/2" rubs, a 5" inch won't even turn on a stock Maverick rearend and suspension. The 4-1/4" backspace I am running now only leaves a finger's width of space between the leaf spring and the 235/60-15s (no spacers).

Based on these facts, the only probable conclusions I can come to are:
    1) Your backspace is not really 5"
    2) Your rearend is not the stock width
    3) There must be a heck of a wide tolerance on Maverick 8-inch rearend widths.

ok I just put a 1980 monarch rearend in my 1970 mav today. I bought a set of mustang bullit wheels 17x8. with 5.75 backspacing, they miss the leaf springs by 1/4". I had to trim the bump stop bracket, but that is it. but with the stock rearend I would have needed about 1.25" spacer. hopefully everything clears up front!
